Edge Of The Woods Native Plant Nursery, LLC

Specializing in plants native to mid-Atlantic ecosystem

A Big Thank You To ALL That Participated!  Every photo was wonderful.

First Prize – Habitat Category 2020

Hummingbird Snack by Rebecca Hunter

Monarda didyma is a favorite of the hummingbirds in my yard. Once my native plant garden was established, they actually stopped visiting my hummingbird feeders and frequently fed and rested in the garden instead.

Second Prize – Habitat Category 2020

Goldfinch on Hyssop by Ashley Ford

An American Goldfinch visits a native anise hyssop for a licorice treat!

Third Prize – Habitat Category 2020

meadow in summer
Meadow in Summer by Deidre Sheehan

This is a photo of the meadow that we established in our backyard over our septic field. You can mostly see Monarda Fistulosa and some Asclepias Incarnata in this photo. At this time of year the meadow is alive with pollinators, which really love the monarda especially!

I chose this photo because it gives an idea of how lively the meadow is. You can spot 2 butterflies that I think are fritillaries, and a number of bees, I think bumblebees and honey bees, both on the flowers and flying.

First Prize – Diversity in the Landscape Category 2020

Coral Beauty All Summer Dee Smith

My Coral Honeysuckle is the focal point of our backyard landscape at the entrance to our pool area. It provides deep colored blooms for our enjoyment and nourishment for our hummingbird visitors summer long!

Second Place – Diversity 2020

Beauty in the Bog! Kris Kostura

A photo of my bog plants from an Edge of The Woods container class. It includes all native plants including pitcher plants, cranberries, ferns, and more! My pitcher plant bloomed for the first time! Amazing!

Third Place – Diversity Category 2020

Pollinator haven Ruth Tal-Singer

We converted our front lawn into a native plant habitat: coreopsis, liatris spicata, switchgrass, butterfly weed and false indigo.. Pollinators love it!!

Grasses are Great!

Grasses are in their prime right now. AND THEY ARE 20% OFF!!   Enormous ecological benefit, easy to grow, deer resistant.  Deep Landscape Plugs available for direct planting.  Plugs are best planted by Mid-September.

Northern Sea Oats Chasmanthium latifolium
