Our Community Outreach: Supporting Your Efforts to Plant Native
Through our community outreach program we call our “Habitat Program”, we fund up to 10 community projects each season. Our goal is to assist individuals who are volunteering their time to create a habitat garden in the Lehigh Valley.
Habitat gardens provide food (nectar, berries, leaves, etc.) and shelter for pollinators, birds, butterflies, beneficial insects and other wildlife. Birds will nest in the trees and shrubs. Insects will eat the leaves of the plants. Beneficial insects, including bees, will visit the flowers.
If you are volunteering to help create a habitat garden, Edge of the Woods can provide a discount on plants and your choice of either a one hour consultation session to help you create a design, or $50 in plant donations.
To be considered for this program:
- The planting must benefit a public landscape.
- The plant list must be 80% native species.
- The plant list may not include any non-native invasive plants.
- Edge of the Woods Native Plant Nursery, LLC must be recognized as a contributor to your project (a logo in jpeg format is available) and photos of the completed project sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org
