Tomorrow is the day folks!! That’s right, just one day until we open up. It sure went quick, didn’t it? We can’t wait to see you! We’ll be here at 9:00am, April 1 and open until 4pm. We are open 9:00am - 4:00pm, Monday-Saturday season long. Closed Sundays.

Featured: Acer saccharum, sugar maple! Sugar maples are the source of maple syrup! Did you know it takes 40 gallons of maple sap to produce 1 gallon of pure syrup? Now you know why REAL maple syrup isn’t cheap! Sap harvest and processing is a very tedious, extensive, and laborious system that requires a lot of work and dedication. If you love maple syrup (like I do) be sure to thank the sap processors! Sugar maples make a great shade tree for the landscape as it is a lovely, stately species and has some beautiful fall colors!

Generally, sugar maples are fast growers and reach heights of 80 to 100 feet at maturity, possibly larger. The National Champion sugar maple grows in Charlemont, MA; it stands 115 feet tall with a trunk diameter of over 6 feet at breast height! It has a circumference of over 19 feet...wow! Check out our sugar maple at the nursery planted around 10 years ago, it’s big now and greets everyone as they drive in the parking lot :)

Featured: Asclepias tuberosa, butterfly milkweed. Hands down, one of our most popular perennials. Everyone loves it, and why wouldn’t ya? Not many natives with bright orange flowers like this; so charming and spectacular at the same time. And yes, it is a monarch host plant just like other milkweeds. Needs FULL SUN and dry to moist, WELL DRAINED soil. Does not tolerate shade, excessive moisture, or heavy clay soils. Great plant for tough spots! ... See more
